This news was very unexpected. Disney and Star Wars have just announced that they will be partnering with ILMxLAB and The Void to create an immersive hyper reality Experience called Star Wars – Secrets of the Empire. It will be coming to Disney Springs in Walt Disney World Resort and Downtown Disney in Disneyland Resort in late 2017.Do you remember that rumor about a Wreck it Ralph VR attraction? Maybe they got confused between that and Star Wars. The new completely immersive attraction will take you deeper into the Star Wars universe with sight, sound, touch, smell, and motion. From the picture, it looks like it will tie in with the Rogue One movie because Mustafar, the lava planet from Rogue One and Episode 3 is in the experience. Another clue is that K-2SO, a droid from Rogue One is in the picture.

The Void company debuted in New York with a Ghostbusters style of the attraction. They then expanded onto Dubai and Toronto. There are two things to keep in mind with this announcement though. First, when Disney Springs in Walt Disney World was still Downtown Disney, they decided to transform to less character based experiences and more modern time shopping mall styles.

That is why Disney Quest closed and the Characters in Flight balloon got repainted and renamed with absolutely nothing to do with Disney Properties. Why is Disney Springs trying to push more on Properties since they were trying to get rid of them?

The next point to understand is that Disneyland might be transforming their Downtown Disney to a Disney Springs Style. Disneyland announced that they are closing 3 shops for more dining experiences. They might be doing a slow transformation to a Disney Springs style.
